Business Venture Idea : Seed Box Hosting
*I don’t actually plan on going through on this idea, but I think it is a pretty good business venture. The market is still fairly new and there is lots of room to dominate it.
If you guys are keeping up-to-date with things going on online, you’ll probably be aware that torrents have become a really popular way of sharing files on the internet. If you’ve been following more closely then you’d know that lots of ISP’s in the world are starting to throttle(slow down) bittorrent traffic. This is where seed boxes come in.
Note: Another reason seedboxes are popular is because people are members of private torrent trackers where the download/upload ratio is important, and most people have slow upload speeds so they buy seedboxes.
More and more people are starting to get their bittorent traffic throttled now days, which means more people are starting to look into torrent flux hosting. And if you look around the market isn’t saturated like hell yet(unlike shared hosting).
To get started in this business you’ll probably need a to buy/rent a dedicated server. Because most people will probably be using it to download copyrighted-material make sure it is in a data center hosted somewhere off-shore , I hear having it located in Amsterdam is good (apperently they are very lient over there). You’ll probably want to have a lawyer as well and see if you are in any risk, and get him to write disclaimers and such on your site.
Get a freelancer of two to install torrentlfux on your server, customize it, make it easy for you to create users maybe make a script to email the account user as soon as his torrent has finished downloading with a direct link to download. I don’t really have much experince with torrentflux, so I don’t know what has to be done.
After you get it all setup you’ll have to decide on plans and such. This shouldn’t be to difficult, decide how many accounts you’ll put on the same server, then decide how much you’ll charge. Make sure if all the accounts are full you are making more money than the server is costing you (kind of obvious isn’t it?).
All that is left now is to advertise it. Go to all webhosting forums and pitch them your offer. Put a link in all the forums you particpate in. Sign up at torrenfreak.com forums and post a lot with a link to your hosting company in your signiture.
If you have no moral issues, then the PPI(pay-per-install) people are using torrents to spread their programs… You can sign up at PPI forums post with your link in your signiture, I reckon “Cheap-Seedboxes” as the anchor text would be enough to get lots of people interseted.
This is a great oppurtunity to make a proper business online, and not some way to make a quick buck . If you are wondering why I’m not doing this, it is because I’m quite lazy and prefer the quick buck. If you end up doing running your own torrentflux hosting company then please hook me up when you are rich :D.

PPI is bad news, as no datacenter will host your seedboxes for long if your users are using public trackers+PPI programs.
